Yes – our OLGR QLD approved certificate is valid for RSG QLD

From 1 October 2010, it will be mandatory for certain people involved in Queensland’s Gaming industry to have a current RSG course certificate.

Who must do RSG training in QLD?

From 1 October 2010, all people who carry out Gaming duties or Gaming tasks within a licensed club or licensed hotel must complete the approved RSG course, including:

• eligible licensee

• Gaming nominee

• holder of a gaming employee licence performing gaming duties

• any person performing gaming tasks.

An eligible licensee is an individual licensee who is ordinarily present on the licensed premises when the premises is open for the conduct of Gaming. This does not include Keno or TAB duties as these comes under a different Legislation.

What if I was employed before 1 October 2010?

You have until 1 July 2011 to obtain the approved RSG certificate, provided you were employed or engaged immediately before 1 October 2010 as any of the following:

• eligible licensee

• Gaming nominee

• holder of a Gaming employee licence performing Gaming duties

• any person performing Gaming tasks.

You can apply for an extension to 1 July 2013, provided you have achieved either of the following units of competency at any time between 1 October 2009 and 1 October 2010:

• SITHGAM006A (‘Provide Responsible Gambling Services’) from the nationally endorsed training package SIT07 (‘Tourism hospitality and Event Management’)

• THHADG03B (‘Provide Responsible Gambling Services’) from the nationally endorsed training package THH02 (‘Hospitality’).

Interstate Recognition

Queensland will recognise an interstate ‘statement of attainment’ in  the national competency SITHGAM006A (‘Provide Responsible Gambling Services’). However you will need to complete an RSG bridging module.
